I am both Black And Muslim
The phrase "Muslims have it worse than black people" is not one that has been hidden online with the recent events of the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and Chinyery Emmanuel. Last night an 18-year-old black Muslim boy Mzee Mohammed died while in police custody, on July 1st a gunman opened fire on five Somali men on their way back from prayer and the shootings of Mohamedtaha Omar, 23, Adam Mekki, 20 and 17-year-old Muhannad Tairab .
My question is why are we not hearing their names like we heard the names of the three Arab Muslims who died in Chapel Hill. Why do their lives matter less to Arab and Desi Muslims? Arabs and Desis constantly use #MuslimLivesMatter to promote injustices that Muslims go through and there's nothing wrong with that but when you're derailing BLM and ignoring any issues black Muslims go through we gotta side eye you a bit.
M.I.A stated:
Why should we as black people be your mules and promote your causes while you constantly undermine ours and ignore our people who are actually in the group you want to promote?
I've seen Arabs constantly say "What about Palestine, what about Syria, what about Iraq" in order to derail any attention to our deaths or causes so I have a few questions for you.
Why didn't you speak up about the 10 dead and 50 wounded at a bombing in Mogadishu in Somalia? Why didn't you speak up about the 28 dead and 65 wounded when suicide bombers attacked Bodo, Cameroon? Do you care that 14 million people are affected by Boko Haram in Nigeria’s north-eastern States of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa?

I'm not playing 'Oppression Olympics' I'm simply just highlighting what non-black Muslims online ignore in order to play the 'what about Syria' card.
People say that I shouldn't see race because Islam ended slavery, or that because the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) saved a slave we should act like racism is over.
So many of you aren't aware of what happened in the Arab slave trade yet you act like you're any better than white people and that's why black Muslims should be eternally grateful for it being ended..

My blackness shouldn't change the fact that my life matters and that I am still as much as a Muslim as any of you. I cannot peel off my blackness and change it in for a skin shade that suits your racist and colorist ideals.
I am a Black Muslim and I'm proud.
